May 18, 2011 at 3:24 pm @Craig, I’m a woman and I agree with Moxie. Women do spend money on hair, make-up, nails and clothing for 1st dates quite often (even during the work week…we can do many things done on a “lunch break” or right before the date!). I’m not saying because I spent money on those things that a man has to pay for everything all the time but I am pointing out that women do spend a lot before we even get to the date. I don’t feel “entitled” that men HAVE to spend money on me but if someone can’t afford to buy me a drink or a cup of coffee then he should have never asked me out to begin with! I’m also a big believer that on a first date the person (man or woman) who does the asking should be the person that pays so just plan a modest first date and everyone will be happy!!
